How it runs
- The yolk's skin is a mesh of 253 points joined by springs. A volume constraint keeps it inflated, which acts as the pressure inside.
- A poke dents the skin. When the dent is deeper than the membrane can take for a yolk that size, it tears open from the point of contact.
- Yolk leaves through the tear at a rate set by the size of the hole, the pressure behind it and the viscosity, and the skin sags as it drains.
- The escaped yolk is about 760 particles sliding over the white and the plate as a thin film. Viscosity sets how hard they drag on the surface.
- Every frame the particles are spread into a height map, smoothed and drawn by WebGPU as a glossy layer that deepens in colour where it is thick.
This specimen needs WebGPU
The yolk's skin, its tearing and the runny centre are simulated live and drawn with WebGPU, the browser's modern graphics interface. Your browser isn't offering it on this device, so there is nothing honest to show here.
