How it breaks

  • The pinata hangs from a real rope chain and swings as a pendulum, twisting when you hit it off-centre.
  • The shell is a few hundred paper panels joined by hinges. Each hit damages the hinges near the bat.
  • Damaged hinges show as cracks, then panels hang as flaps, then fall off. Enough damage splits it.
  • The candy is simulated inside and only leaves through real holes.
  • It lands in a pile that settles and sleeps. Every sound is synthesised live.
